Dhanaulti - Kanatal

Dhanaulti: An Extraordinary Tourist Destination

Located amidst serene and lovely surroundings, in the Garhwal Hiils, Uttarakhand, is the amazing destination of Dhanaulti. The verdant greenery -- with soaring tress of deodar, rhododendron and oak -- makes the hill station one of the most visited tourist places in India. Many visitors say that Dhanaulti is a treat to the soul that desires peacefulness and serenity.

Amply blessed with natural splendor, Dhanaulti offers breathtaking views of the upper reaches of the snow-clad Himalayas. Dhanaulti is unlike the other heavily commercialized and over populated hill destinations of the country in the sense that it is pretty away from the usual noise and crowd which are pretty common there.

Boosting the tourism appeal of the place is the fact that there are many lovely fruit orchards in and around Dhanaulti that one can tour. Besides the orchards and stunning vistas of snow-covered Himalayan peaks, day trips to certain tourist spots -- including Surkhanda Devi Temple and Chamba -- are more than likely to delight even the most finicky of visitors inspiring them to tour this jewel set in the crown of the Himalayas time and again .

Best Time to Visit

Though Dhanaulti can be visited throughout the year, one would do well to avoid the monsoon season.

How to Reach

Dhanaulti is well connected by rail, road and air. The nearest railhead is at Dehradun while the nearest airport is at Jolly Grant (82km).

Kanatal: The Himalayan Fairyland

Situated 22 km from Dhanuati, 40 km from Mussoorie and 300 km from Delhi, the beautiful tourist place of Kanatal is regarded as one of the most striking destinations in Uttarakhand. This charming little town located on the Mussorie-Chamba road, in the district of Tehri Garhwal, is located at a height of nearly 8,500 feet.

It offers an out-of-this-world vision of the snow-clad mountain ranges and verdant green forests. This amazing tourist hotspot enjoys an edge of sorts over the other more well-known hill towns of the north -- the reason being it still has not been crudely urbanized and commercialized like most of them.

This lovely tourist place offers a magical and peaceful holiday experience to the visitors, in the welcoming and warm lap of the untouched environment. With pleasing and enjoyable weather throughout the year, Kanatal offers a nice break.

Best Time to Visit

The best time of the weather at Kanatal comes between sometime between December and February, when over 50 inches of powdery snow almost carpets the place’s grounds, creating a lovely picture and transforming the entire region into a breath taking white fairyland.
