Padum Lamayuru Trek (Moderate to Strenuous)

Duration: 16 Nights/17 days

Places Covered: Leh, Kargil, Rangdum, Padum, Karsha Monastery, (Trekking Villages/Camping site, Pishu, Hanumil, Snertse, Lingtse, Singue La, Photoksar, Hanupatta, Wanla & Lamayuru)

Day 01: Leh In the morning arrival in Leh meet & greet & transfer to the hotel with our representative. Check in at the Hotel due to high & thin air the day will be free for acclimatization. Tea/Coffee on arrival. Rest time till Lunch. Lunch at Hotel & you can visit to Leh Market, Leh Palace, Hall of Fame and Shanti Stupa. Overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Leh Morning breakfast & proceed for sightseeing of Monasteries & visit to Shey Palace, Thiksey, Hemis monasteries and Stok Palace Museum. Packed Lunch will be provided. After sightseeing return to the hotel rest time. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 03: Leh-Kargil-3700m (229 kms) Post breakfast drive Pass magnetic Hills & Mulbeck the deviding line between Buddhist & Muslim followers. Lunch will be served packed from the hotel. Enroute visit to many monasteries. Reach Kargil by late evening. On arrival dinner & overnight.

Day 04: Kargil-Rangdum (127 kms) After an early breakfast drive to Rangdum. Rangdum is very famous for Rangdum Gompa. A very isolated place can be reached after strenuous driving which takes almost full day to reach this place. Packed lunch will be served from the hotel. On arrival dinner & overnight at camp.

Day 05: Rangdum-Padum-3600m (104 kms) After breakfast proceed to Padum also enroute visit to Rangdum Gompa. Rangdum Monastery is an 18th century Tibetan Buddhist monastery belonging to the Gelugpa sect, situated on top of a small but steep sugarloaf hill at an altitude of 11,998 ft (3,657 m) at the head of the Suru Valley, in Ladakh. Packed lunch will be offered. On arrival at Padum free time till our cook prepares snacks with tea for evening. Till that time just explore the Padum Village. Dinner will be served Hotel. Overnight at Camp.


Day 06: Padum-Karsha -3600m-3 hours A pleasant walk through fields, on the way visit to Pepiting & Karsha Monastery one of the most important Monastery dating back to 15th Century. Return to camp site lunch at the camp. The valley is very chilling & windy. Dinner and overnight at Camp.

Day 07: Karsha-Pishu-3470m –approx 5-6 hours. After an early breakfast trek for Pishu first ascending & walk though the fields to reach a beautiful camping site located near to Zanskar River. Lunch packed. Dinner will be served hot & overnight at camp.

Day 08: Pishu-Hanumil -3380m (5-6 hours) An easy-going walk along the right bank of the river takes us to Rinam village. We continue to the tiny hamlet of Hanumil. Overnight at Camp.

Day 09: Hanumil-Purfi La (3950m) –Snertse (3850m)-6 hours After early breakfast proceed for next destination. After up & down over the steep path reach to Snertse. Camping hot dinner & overnight.

Day 10: Snertse-Hanuma La (4950m)-Lingset (4000m)-6 hours After breakfast proceed to Hanuma La. After a steep climb we reach the Purfi La pass, from where the panorama towards the Ladakhi and Zanskari ranges is quite impressive. Visit of Lingshet monastery on arrival. Camping & hot dinner. Overnight at Camp.

Day 11: Lingset-Singue La (Camping before Singue La) 4550m—6 hrs We start a long and gradual ascent to the Netuke La pass (4280m), where we have a wonderful view towards the Nierag valley. The trail then descends shortly to reach Skimpata and Gongma villages, then climbs steeply to reach the second pass, Khyupa La (4300m).

Day 12: Camp before Singue La-Photoksar (4200m)-6 hrs After breakfast proceed to Photoksar. En route breathtaking views of Ice capped mountains. Reach Photoksar camping after hot dinner overnight at Camp.

Day 13: Photoksar-Sirsir La (4850m)-Hanupatta (3760m)-6 hrs After breakfast proceed to Hanupatta. Photang valley turns into a gorge labyrinth, which forces us to make a detour via Sirsir La pass. Three shortens mark Hanupatta and its giant hundred-year-old cedar, flanked by colorful prayer flags. Reach camping site. Hot dinner & overnight at camp.

Day 14: Hanupatta-Wanla (3250m)-5 hours After breakfast pack the gear & proceed to Wanla we head towards the Photang Valley and climb up to the Panjila Pass (3410m).We finally descend to Wanla Village. On arrival visit to small Monastery. Overnight at Camp.

Day 15: Wanla-Lamayuru (3500m) After breakfast you will be trekking in plain. On arrival visit of the monastery at Lamayuru, which is the biggest in western Ladakh and was built in the 16th century on the site of a much older temple. The gompa is very well kept and famous for its many colorful wall paintings. Overnight camp.

Day 16: Lamayuru-Leh Post breakfast pack the gear & will be transferred to Leh. On arrival free time for leisure. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 17: Leh After breakfast you will be transferred to Airport for flight to Delhi.
